CATIA V5/Pro-E/Solid Works

About CETOL

CETOL 6σ is a comprehensive dimensional analysis system used to support robust product development processes from design through manufacturing. CETOL 6σ is built on 3D Variation Behavior ModelingTM Technology fully integrated with CATIA V5, Pro-Engineer and Solid Works which allows unique sensitivity, statistical and worst case tolerance analysis. The CETOL 6σ analyzer module allows for rapid ‘what-if’ studies, an integrated process capability library, and powerful reporting tools. CETOL 6σ supports full CAD integrated data management saving data directly on the CAD model. CETOL 6σ is providing the ease of use necessary to support the most complex assembly models and analysis needs.

Benefits

Sigmetrix has streamlined the mechanical variation modeling process and enabled users to get answers early and often. Reductions in rework, scrap, and engineering changes are common results of proper CETOL implementation. Additionally, customers are experiencing greater confidence in transitioning products from the Design Phase to the Pre-Production phase. Prototype build reductions of 50-75% are common, resulting in fewer last minute changes, which are often very costly.

Product Highlights

Integrated Workbench – Directly uses the precise CATIA Pro-E and Solid Works geometry, FT&A and data management system.

Robust Assembly Modeler – Provides the most robust assembly constraint system automatically solving for assembly positions of all components, even for complex mechanisms CETOL directly identifies all over and under constraints insuring a properly constrained model.

Reliable Sensitivity and Contribution Analysis – Advanced iterative solvers are used to calculate very precise sensitivity and contribution results.

Expanded Process Library Architecture – Process Library offers sorting and filtering control and expandable process definition using standard database methods.

Independent Analyzer Module – Powerful analyzer application is optimized for interrogating and interpreting results. Included is a manufacturing process capability library directly integrated to the analyzer inter-face.

Automated Report Generation – Automated reporting, complete with easy to interpret graphics. XML and XSL based architecture allows for easy customization.

Balancing Design Requirements with Manufacturing Realities

This diagram illustrates the basic phases of product development. Traditionally, tolerance analysis was only performed once in the life of a product because the procedures were very computationally intense and time consuming with results made unreliable from inappropriate or incomplete data. CETOL has maintained a very flexible, yet comprehensive modeling approach that allows analyses to be conducted concurrently with the product development process.

CETOL can check a design’s feasibility even before any 3-D solid geometry is created. Through the use of simple CAD modeling entities such as planes, lines, curves, and surfaces, sensitivity data can be calculated and inexpensive changes to the design or assembly constraints can be implemented.

Functional assembly modeling captures all possible sources of variation and describes the physics of how these variations affect the assembly specifications. Modeling assembly variation is accomplished by the user selecting true assembly contact surfaces within the CAD environment.

CETOL directly uses the FTA dimension scheme callouts for each part in the assembly. The Part Model Graph interface simplifies the part re-scheming with “drag & drop” functionality resulting in a logical part dimension diagram.

The last refinement of the CETOL assembly variation model is to define part process definitions. Utilizing CETOL’s Process Library, true manufacturing variation can be assigned. Combined with physical assembly constraint behavior, a true virtual prototype is now ready for review.
